Job Description:
  • DDG51 Class Onboard/Onsite Electrical/Electronic Systems Integration Fleet Service Engineer, responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising the correction of shipboard warranty, incomplete new construction and Government tasked emergent repairs in the areas of Electrical/Electronic Systems Integration.
  • Investigate and determine the contractual responsibility for alleged guarantee items and/or incomplete new construction work items.
  • Provide support to ship exercises, tests and surveys, including LOA, PDT&T, CSSQT, Final Contract Trials as required.
  • Conduct daily interaction with the customer, including; Ship’s Commanding Officer and Crew, SSBA, PMS400D, Type Commander, Regional Maintenance Center, Port Engineer, FTSC (LANT/PAC), NAVSSES, etc.
  • Serve as onboard/onsite Fleet Service representative resolving shipboard electrical/electronic system issues and/or supervising the execution of a project/work package.
  • Provide Ship Class design and performance feedback and recommendations to the appropriate Government and LYS entities.
  • Be on-call 24 hours/day, 365 days/year and prepared to travel on short notice anywhere in the world providing “quick response” customer service.

Provide on-call support to both BIW and NGSB ships during the shakedown period for control, instrumentation, network, alarm and indication, communication and electrical systems.

Lead integrated troubleshooting and diagnostic teams made up of various shipbuilder, vendor, NAVSEA, and NAVSSES personnel.

Required/Preferred Education/Training:
Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline and/or be a BIW Apprentice Graduate and/or equivelent expierence.
Required/Preferred Experience:
  • Candidates should have (5+) years of collective experience working on/supervising shipboard Electrical/Electronic Systems Integration, preferably on DDG51 Class Ships.

  • In-depth knowledge of DDG-51 Class Destroyers, along with experience gained in a Navy waterfront maintenance environment, will factor in the selection process.

Unique/Additional Requirements:
  • Secret Security Clearance
  • Strong computer, oral, written, analytical and interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team are required.
  • Offsite travel can approach 4 months or more on average in a one-year period.
  • Must be able to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet ship’s operational schedule demands
