This Senior Secretary position will support the Air Quality and Waste Management Programs within DENR. As part of the administrative team, you will have the opportunity to work with multiple programs and gain experience across the department as each program works together to support our goals. Additionally, the department invests in each employee with our onboarding program, mentoring, and variety of work experiences that will provide you with new challenges.

The person must also enjoy serving others and working with their peers when needed to accomplish certain tasks.


What you will do
:
Our customers interact initially with the Senior Secretary position. This position will greet and welcome walk-in customers, determine what they are concerned with or looking for, and direct them to the correct person to talk to. In addition, this position will:
  • proofread documents and ensure they are understandable by the layperson;
  • manage typical office duties - mail, telephones, supplies;
  • help maintain records by creating electronic copies of all documents, placing electronic documents in the correct electronic folder, sending hard copies to records management, notifying the right individual that we received the document, and updating the electronic database;
  • assist with processing of public notices.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Applicants with two years of high-level clerical experience are preferred.

Experience using phone systems, copiers, printers, and scanners; experience working in collaborative team environments and demonstrating effective time management and organizational skills; and a strong work ethic, interpersonal skills, discretion, confidentiality, and a positive attitude are desirable.

Knowledge of:

  • the Microsoft Office Suite software, Adobe products, and can easily learn new software.

Skill to:

  • provide effective communication skills.

Ability to:

  • manage multiple tasks in an organized and timely manner;
  • learn and a willingness to be challenged.
