The Recruitment and Retention Coach will coordinate the recruitment and retention efforts of the College, as well as promote student success within the diverse student body from the initial point of entry through completion.
The Recruitment and Retention Coach is responsible for planning and implementing recruitment activities for the college, as well as documenting, maintaining and assessing a comprehensive plan for the College’s retention initiatives. Coordinate retention efforts and help the College community make informed decisions based on internal and external data sources, especially retention initiatives such as early alert and other programs related to Student Affairs & Academic Affairs. The Coach will Identify and participate in outreach and recruitment activities within the service region and will cultivate strong relationships with school counselors and prospective students. Foster strong academic preparation, engagement and performance with targeted student populations. Encourage students to complete their educational goals, while working closely with various offices of the College. Increase student persistence at the College for degree or certification completion.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology or related field (from a regionally accredited institution) or equivalent applicable experience or training.
Extensive customer service experience.
Successful experience working with faculty/staff and at-risk students to implement appropriate strategies to retain students.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of appropriate strategies for reducing at-risk student behaviors.
- Knowledge of individual intervention strategies to increase graduation rates.
- Knowledge of best practices in student recruitment.
Skills:
- Problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Abilities:
- Ability to assess student needs and recommend appropriate remediation.
- Ability to speak comfortably to large and small groups and diverse populations.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and make appropriate referrals when necessary.
- Ability to manage complex tasks associated with the planning of events for the student population.
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
Master’s degree in counseling or a related field preferred.
Experience in a higher education setting.
Student advising experience.
Community College experience.
