Summary

These positions are located in White Pine Chamber of Commerce, Elko Chamber of Commerce, or Battle Mountain Chamber of Commerce.

We expect to fill many vacancies. This vacancy may be used to make future vacancies throughout the State of Nevada. (See requirement section for information related to future vacancies).


Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and theories of non-forested or forested land ecosystems, including rangeland use, management, and monitoring.
  • Plans, distributes, and monitors work assignments; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance.
  • Uses machines, tools, instruments, or equipment effectively; uses computers and computer applications to analyze and communicate information in the appropriate format.

    Qualifications

    At the GS-06 Level: Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to GS-05 in the Federal service or in a directly related position. Specialized experience is further defined as: perform work in the conservation, regulation and use of public or Federally controlled lands for grazing; conduct range research activities; work in the operation of a livestock ranch or assist in the management or preservation of lands comparable to the public range; OR work related to range/forest fire control, prevention, or suppression; OR Have completed six months of graduate level college education related to range technician work such as a major study in forestry, range management, agriculture or a subject-matter field directly related to this position that has equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position. I will provide a copy of my college transcript; OR Have an equivalent combination of specialized experience as described in the vacancy announcement to qualify for this position and education that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as those shown above to qualify for this position. I will provide a copy of my college transcript.

    At the GS-07 Level: Have one year of specialized work experience equivalent to GS-6 level I have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to GS-06 in the Federal service or in a directly related position. Specialized experience is further defined as: providing, fostering and maintaining relationships with agencies, organizations, and private land owners; working in an interdisciplinary atmosphere; assisting with the collection, compilation and analysis of rangeland monitoring data; conducting livestock compliance checks; and utilization of the Rangeland Administration System (RAS) and GPS; OR Have one year of graduate level college education in a field related to range work such as a major study in forestry, range management, agriculture or a field directly related to this position that has equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position; OR Have an equivalent combination of specialized experience as described in the vacancy announcement to qualify for this position and/or education that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as those shown above to qualify for this position. I will provide a copy of my college transcript.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Physical Demands: The work ranges from sedentary when completing duties in the office to frequent field work requiring a considerable amount of walking, riding, stooping, bending, and lifting.

    Work Environment: Office work is performed in adequately lighted, heated, and air conditioned offices. Much of the time is spent in the field where exposure to extremes of heat and cold, rough terrain, insects, snakes, and other hazards are common. The employee will carefully adhere to all safety
    procedures to mitigate hazards encountered.

    Education

    This position allows for education to be substituted for specialized experience (see qualification section for education requirements). If using education to qualify - You MUST submit a copy of ALL your college transcripts or a list of ALL college courses that include hours and grades from an accredited U.S. college/university. Upon selection, official transcripts must be received prior to appointment. If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

    This is a temporary appointment. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status and will be for a period not-to-exceed 1039 hours in a service year.
