Full Description

Responsible for the organization and overall development of the annual Highway Safety Plan (HSP), the Highway Safety Project Summaries and Recommendations, Funding Guidelines, Annual Evaluation report and other documents are directed. Coordinates program area staff development of internally assigned document sections and monitors for completion within established timelines.

Identifies document errors and/or deficiencies and provides practical feedback to the original preparer. Compiles final documents verifying the inclusion and accuracy of essential information critical to the reporting requirements associated with the receiving entity. Keeps management informed of progress ensuring timely completion of all documents.

Responsible for requesting/obtaining HSP updates from program/office staff members and preparing HSP changes/updates as needed. Prepares HSP updates for submission to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Coordinates the Funding Guidelines Workshop, the Project Management Course, and Grant Award Pre-Work Conferences.

Coordinates the development and submission of Highway Safety Grant applications for Federal funding for highway safety projects. Reviews applications for accuracy and ensures compliance with specified criteria as outlined by the federal government.

Coordinates the grant award process for Highway Safety Grants. Assists with conducting special projects, events and activities of the OHSJP as directed. Coordinates and develops the annual Highway Safety assignment calendar. Monitors completion of projects/assignments.

Assists the Statistical Analysis and Research Section with formal and informal aspects of the annual Highway Safety Problem Identification process.

Other duties as assigned.


State and Agency Minimum Requirements
A Bachelor's degree and general administrative, management, or program experience.

Additional Requirements
Applicant must have good organizational skills, and be able to complete concise and comprehensive written reports and documents.

Must have very strong proof-reading/editing capabilities and excellent oral/written communication skills.

Ability to use personal computer, and related Microsoft Office software, and audio-visual equipment.


Position requires a self-motivated individual with proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, partners, related organizations and private groups. Ability to manage and coordinate a variety of tasks simultaneously. Ability to speak effectively in a public setting.
