Job Summary:

The position involves examining building plans prior to approval and permitting.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent;

Three (3) years closely of related experience.

Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses or Certifications:

Certification as a Plans Examiner in the various functional areas offered by the International Code Council or be able to obtain such certifications within a specified time as a condition of continued employment.

Must possess a valid State Driver's License.

Special Requirements:

Many situations may require early morning or late evening hours.

Must be willing to participate in continuing education.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of mathematics and ability to use tools such as calculators, computers and measuring scales to examine and interpret complex building plans.

Knowledge of general construction practices, techniques, and materials.

Skills in effective written and oral communication.

Ability to learn, understand and interpret the adopted county codes and ordinances, and division practices and procedures.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other employees and the general public.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
