The Authorization / Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for verifying insurances and performing necessary authorizations based on insurance guidelines. The role also includes quality monitoring to ensure clean claim processing.

Responsibilities: Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provides exceptional customer service and 'first impression' to new patients

  • Answers central Performance Physical Therapy phone line (option 1) and assists patients and/or directs calls as appropriate. Also managed clinic level phone calls as needed.
  • Obtains and accurately documents detailed information on referral source, patient demographics, injury information, and insurance. Distributes electronic intake paperwork according to patient preferred method.
  • Schedules new evaluations at the location of the patient's choice/time per patient preference in as timely a manner as possible.
  • Communicates with clinic patient care coordinators regarding patient appointment preference in order for patients to be accommodated as soon as possible
  • Manages EHR reports to ensure patients are appropriately contacted and followed up with to schedule an initial appointment. Discharges patients who were not successfully contacted and sends correspondence regarding their discharge
  • Use of computer to access O365 SharePoint, Microsoft Excel and Clinicient Electronic Medical Records for the purpose of scheduling, documentation and referral management

Qualifications: Qualifications/Education/Experience:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required with two years of related experience in healthcare and/or training. Call center and/or proven experience working with a multi-line phone system is preferred. The ideal candidate is well organized, comfortable multi-tasking and has a history excelling in busy environments.
