Summary

Finance and Administrative Services, a division of Public Health Seattle & King County, is recruiting for one, full time Inventory Purchasing Specialist II to work in our Public Health Warehouse and Distribution Center. This position provides critical organizational support to maintaining personal protective equipment and clinical supplies for our COVID-19 testing and vaccination sites. This classification is distinguished from the other levels because incumbents work independently with minimal supervision and have a working knowledge of purchasing policies and inventory systems. Distinguishing duties include purchasing, stocking/receiving, creating orders and managing inventory.

This position will last for 9 months with a possibility of extension. This recruitment may be used to fill up to two positions.

Who May Apply: This full-time Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) or Special Duty position is open to all qualified applicants.

Work Location: Work is located in the Public Health Warehouse and Distribution Center located at 7272 W Marginal Way S, Seattle, WA 98108. This position is needed on site without the possibility of telecommuting due to the nature of the work.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM. These hours are subject to change with advance notice.

Job Duties

  • Maintain computerized inventory records and information system.
  • Pick and pack orders, ensuring accuracy.
  • Pick up and deliver items as required. Load and unload as required.
  • Deliver inventory throughout King County in a utility van.
  • Input and research inventory and disbursement records, inventory adjustments and usage reports.
  • Review and reconcile various reports to supporting documents.
  • Perform basic warehousing and stocking functions using material handling equipment, load and unload items and acknowledge receipt of goods and services.
  • Assist with physical inventory and cycle counting.
  • Keep warehouse organized and clean.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • A valid Washington State Driver’s License
  • A valid forklift operator certification
  • Ability to push, pull or move items between 20-50 pounds, with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to walk to various locations in a large building and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software to complete assigned clerical tasks and accurate data entry.
  • High level of organization and time management.
  • Knowledge of basic warehousing equipment and supplies
  • Knowledge of inventory control and management systems
  • Oral and written communications skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Skill in operating forklift and other material handling equipment
  • Understand the importance of a safety culture in the workplace and work closely with leadership and co-tenants to ensure that all measures are taken to establish and maintain the safety culture.

  • Experience working in a healthcare environment and with clinical supplies
  • Initiative in taking on new tasks and projects.

Public Health relies on office automation (Microsoft Office) and web-based enabled tools, therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
