GA’s Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Group focuses on the military and commercial applications of advanced electromagnetic technologies, including power generation and distribution, magnetic levitation, laser and weapons systems, and systems design and engineering. The EMS Group supports government customers, which include the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, the Department of Transportation as well as a range of commercial customers.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Department Assistant in our EMS Advanced Projects Manufacturing Operations for Space Systems group. Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of activities in support of manufacturing operations for various GA EMS programs/projects such as space systems, advanced sensors, and advanced technology development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains, processes, reviews, and compiles a variety of electronic and hard copy reports, records, statistics, timelines, tables, correspondence, and presentations, which may be sensitive in nature, and requires tact and discretion in handling.
  • Responds to routine verbal and written requests for information from internal colleagues such as manufacturing engineers, engineering liaisons, manufacturing managers and other support personnel.
  • Coordinates with manufacturing personnel on the shop floor to monitor and document the status of parts and materials throughout the production lifecycle.
  • Gathers, tracks, and verifies data from multiple sources and functional areas, including enterprise resource planning system(s), product lifecycle management system(s), email correspondence, and status meetings.
  • Prepares reports as requested to communicate progress of work assignments and projects to management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two or more years experience in a field related to the specialized functional area or unit where assigned.
  • Must be able to identify issues and solve routine problems.
  • Must possess the ability to grasp new concepts quickly, have strong organization skills, and have the ability to establish priorities.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are critical for accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Must be able to effectively use MS Office, specifically Excel and Project applications, to execute and track work activities. MS Teams experience is desirable.
  • Systems Applications and Products (SAP) enterprise resource planning system experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential, as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
