SALARY: $23.75 to $27.58 per hour

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
This is not a Testing Designated Position (TDP) within the definition of the CSKT Drug Testing policy.
The successful applicant, if not already employed by the Tribes must pass a prehire drug
test and serve a mandatory twelve (12) month probationary period. A favorable
determination resulting from a completed Law Enforcement Background Check is
required for your placement in this position.
The Bison Range Security and Technological Specialist (BRSTS) is a professional technical communication position which
promotes, monitors and facilitates recreational management and preserves fish and wildlife resources via technology at
the Tribes’ Bison Range (BR) Program and within the Reservation. The position is responsible for content and technical
writing and editing, developing innovative outreach and education materials; crafting funding proposals, developing and
maintaining regular content management for multiple Natural Resources Department and Division of Fish, Wildlife,
Recreation and Conservation websites.


DUTIES: 

Develops and maintains a Bison Range remote security camera system. 
Designing, developing, revising, and maintaining a broad array of communications materials, including but not

limited to educational and BR nonprofit revenue campaigns and grants, signs, brochures, displays, logos, social
media, web, and interactive multimedia that meet a broad range of the DFWRC and NRD goals and needs. This
includes:
  • Assisting with writing and editing various DFWRC technical reports, plans, and documents; public outreach

and educational materials; and web content while collaborating extensively with Tribal resource specialists,
managers and administrators.

  • Translating the electronic communication needs of natural resource professionals into design and
communication strategies.
  • Designing and creating professional and attractive visual content using graphic design tools, software and
current standards in selecting colors, fonts, photographs, layouts and other design elements with collaborating
staff.
  • Developing and maintaining webbased interactive, multimedia outreach and education content for the web
and smart phone/device applications while collaborating with other staff. 

Integrates the multitude of NRD outdoor recreation opportunities publicly available so that visitor experiences are
integrated and readily accessible to visitors. 

Is able to “map” all technology used at the Bison Range so that IT oversight and security of the same is easily and
readily achieved. 

Serves as a member of the Bison Range administrative team and assists with various interdisciplinary
management and analysis processes as a writer and IT facilitator to ensure projects meet deadlines and the
processes are wellorganized, productive and collaborative. 

Develops cost estimates for related systems design and upgrade for a 5–7year period as that information is
essential for projection of longterm costs and grants that will be developed. 

Evaluates the recreational opportunities in Western Montana to align the Bison Range visit/services with vacation
planning to encourage responsible and financially viable visitor traffic. 

Will offer advice on the operational aspects of the coordination, planning, implementation, and administration of
activities associated with the overall Bison Range operations. 

Attends and conducts meetings with officials (Tribal, local, county, state) as requested by the Bison Range
Coordinator. Provides information, discusses issues, resolves problems, and receives input on the status of
existing, developing, or proposed technological activities. 

Assists with the educational aspects of a comprehensive public relations/public use program to provide optimum
information, education and interpretation on the assigned website(s). 

Will be assigned additional technological support duties to other websites maintained by the CSKT NRD
Department to complement CSKT/NRD goals. 

Conducts other tasks, as assigned by designated supervisory personnel and meets weekly to reaffirm all work
priorities and current status of the same. 

May offer advice and technical assistance on general CSKT recreation fee structures and public relations strategy
as part of the CSKT/NRD/BR team. 

May recommend visitor surveys and other tools to project visitor use to facilitate targeted visiting amenities.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (AS REFLECTED ON THE TRIBAL EMPLOYMENT
APPLICATION) 

A Bachelor’s degree in a technical/science field, computer science, environmental/engineering,
journalism, or related sector as well as two years of recent experience developing webbased
businessoriented or government oriented applications. 

Must possess or be eligible for a Montana State Driver’s License and be insurable under the
Tribal insurance policy. 

May be required to have an annual physical examination and work duty ability form completed
and signed by a general practice medical doctor. 

Required to wear Tribal government identification/uniform and safety apparel during official
duties and outside field activities. 

Required to pass a law enforcement background check. 
Will be required to obtain online defensive driving training upon hiring and renew every three

years thereafter and obtain and maintain a current first aid/CPR certificate. 
In the event of a pandemic or other exposure or catastrophic event, the BRSTS is expected to

email or call the BR Coordinator at the start of each work day. 
If a mandatory work from home is declared, a remote work (briefing) report is required to be

emailed weekly to the BR Coordinator listing accomplishments and projected work items. 
May be employed under an employment contract. 
Oneyear probationary period is required.
