Position Description

This position will apply mathematical and statistical expertise to address and understand critical infrastructure asset- and system-level preparation and response strategies for emerging risks (e.g., natural hazards, infectious disease outbreaks). Applicants should be well-versed in the development and use of agent-based models, statistical models and techniques, as well as a range of analytical and visualization software/programming languages. This includes developing methodologies and tools, as well as developing and applying techniques, to assist decision and policy makers in risk management efforts and ensuring that public and private-sector risk and resilience activities achieve desired objectives within a constrained environment.

Position Requirements


  • Knowledge of mathematical modeling and statistical analysis techniques and applications.
  • Knowledge of behavioral and decision science.
  • Skill in using a variety of data analytic software, including but not limited to R.
  • Experience with interpreted programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript).
  • Experience with agent-based modeling.
  • Skill in working effectively in a team.
  • Skill in written and oral communication.
  • Skill in communicating complex problems and solutions to a variety of audiences.

Education Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in statistics, data science, quantitative psychology, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
