Annual Giving Officer & Donor Relations Specialist

Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Relations, the Annual Giving Officer and Donor Relations Specialist ( AGODRS ) is a professional fundraising position that develops and executes the annual solicitation strategy in alignment with the university’s strategic priorities. The AGODRS manages the comprehensive annual giving program, including direct mail, digital campaigns, giving webpages, private scholarships, employee campaign, senior legacy society, and will oversee the donor relations and stewardship program simultaneously. Additionally, the AGODRS will manage a small portfolio of annual fund prospects for the leadership annual giving program.
Plan, coordinate, execute and manage a dynamic, multidimensional annual giving program that utilizes a variety of mediums to communicate with and solicit current and potential donors. Strategy will encompass but is not limited to digital/crowdfunding, direct mail, and employee campaigns. Draft content, manage production schedule, identify targeted segments, and oversee project budget for annual giving campaigns, continually monitoring progress toward campaign goals.
Manage donor relations and stewardship strategies and independently explore opportunities for new giving programs and lead elevation of current programs. Create and implement individual donor stewardship strategies working with gift officers. Prepare donor communications and collateral materials.
Oversee private scholarship funds using AcademicWorks to ensure proper awarding and deployment of funds by monitoring account balances, coordinating with appropriate campus contacts, as well as plan and coordinate the annual Scholarship Luncheon in efforts to properly steward donor relationships.
Solicit leadership annual gifts from an active portfolio of select donors and prospects.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience in an area such as donor relations, alumni development, fundraising, prospect research, or business development. Good driving record, valid driver’s license and successful background check are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Higher education fundraising and/or strong understanding of development process and comprehensive campaigns; working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and AcademicWorks strongly desired.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to organize and manage multiple assignments and deadlines. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills and proven capability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. Demonstrated initiative, enthusiasm, flexibility and proven effectiveness working with diverse groups of people and functional areas.
