The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate
supervisors and workers in accomplishing trades and labor work of 49 CMS/MXM.

    • The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. A valid driver?s license is required for the position.

    • The incumbent may be required to fill-in for the squadron commander during absences.

    • This position is emergency-essential. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the Emergency-Essential duties until relieved by proper authority. The incumbent or the designated (cont)
    • (cont) alternate may be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively. This (cont)
    • (cont) meets the criteria of an Emergency-Essential position and requires that the incumbent, or the designated alternate, be removed from any military recall status. Employee must sign DD Form 2365 as a condition of employment.
    • This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
    • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. (cont)
    • (cont)Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. (cont)
    • (cont) Incumbent of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
    • The duties of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function (cont)

    Qualifications

    In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8800, Aircraft Overhaul Family, General Aircraft Overhaul. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

    The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

    JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

    1. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and
    personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment

    2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
    3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.
    4. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.
    5. Ability to manage overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities and functions and implement
    sound personnel policies, practices, and procedures through one or more levels of subordinate supervisors.
    6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

    PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
