The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fisheries is recruiting for a Accounting Technician I located in Juneau!

What you will be doing:
Working under the general supervision of the Commercial Fisheries Accounting Tech III, this position provides a full range of accounting and financial management support duties for the headquarters office with additional liaison and technical support provided to the division’s regional accounting offices. The position reconciles various financial documents, performs fiscal monitoring activities for a variety of general fund and non-general funding sources. Monitors the division’s One Card program, processes all HQ travel including federal-reimbursable travel forms.

The working conditions you can expect:
This position is located at 1255 W. 8th Street, Juneau, Alaska, which offers beautiful channel views, nearby walking Overstreet Park with the iconic Whale Statue, Tahku. The daily work environment includes working at a desk/cubicle in an office setting and this position does have the option to partially telework if appropriate.

We are looking for a candidate that possesses some or all of the following position-specific competencies (If you have any experience with the following, please document these in your application and supplemental questions):
  • Proficient in Microsoft computer software, i.e., Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Experience researching financial, accounting, or payment problems, including documenting the resolution of the issue
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proven adaptability to new systems, technology and/or organizational changes with good analytical skills and the ability to interpret data

Minimum Qualifications

One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.

Substitutions:
Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
