Duties

Summary

Position located on the Salmon-Challis National Forest in Salmon, ID.
Incumbent will examine, process, and maintain special use authorizations; provide technical guidance/assistance for special uses and the IWEB-Special Use Database System (SUDS); responsible for database oversight, data entry/manipulation, monitoring, and the generation of reports in the IWEB SUDS program.

  • Assist office personnel on permit preparation.
  • Enter, manipulate and/or monitor data from a data tracking software program.
  • Review permits/contracts for errors and/or omissions and take appropriate action to correct.
  • Analyze data, regulations, procedures, or policies for the purpose of giving advice and/or resolving problem situations.
  • Provide technical assistance to permit applicants and others on application forms, procedures, and requirements.

    Specialized Experience Requirement:

    For the GS-6 level:
    Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in the federal service. Examples of specialized experience are: Provided technical and clerical support in special uses including permit preparation, annual and term plans of operations, insurance requirements and compliance, and calculation of fees and billings. Managed computer equipment and various software programs in order to compose correspondence and enter and manage information in an automated database.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

    VEOA applicants who meet the basic minimum qualification requirements and are determined to be among the best qualified. Best qualified is defined as receiving a rating of at least 91 out of a possible 100 based on responses to the occupational questionnaire.
