Duties

Summary

This position is located in the Enterprise and Systems Integration Center, Quality Engineering and System Assurance. The Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) is the Army's Center of Lethality, and provides more than 90 percent of the Army's lethality to soldiers. CCDC mission includes: improving already fielded items, developing new items, maintaining a strong armament technology base in government, industry and academia and providing technical support to Soldiers in the field.


Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving inspection for mission material/items for contractual requirement prior to acceptance and release to supply.
  • Perform Quality Assurance acquisition support, quality verification, and surveillance inspections on system items.
  • Perform acquisitions support, quality verification, and surveillance inspections on system items.
  • Ensure that quality requirements are established, implemented, and maintained for complex products/material.
  • Prepare reports on inspection findings.
  • Perform quality verification, and surveillance inspections on system items.

    • Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Career Field Position.
    • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Workforce position. Selectees must meet the position requirements for certification at Level I or II in Production, Quality and Engineering within 36 months of entrance on duty.

    • Due to the impact of the Coronavirus, individuals with entrance of duty dates prior to April 1, 2021 will have an additional 12 months to meet the certification requirements, up to a total of 36 months

    • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.     GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that includes: (1) experience with technical, industry, and inspection quality standards; and (2) experience with quality requirements for systems/products/materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

    GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) experience with technical, industry, and inspection quality standards; (2) experience with quality requirements for systems/products/materials; and (3) capability to perform Quality Assurance (QA) audits. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

    GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) experience conducting technical investigations and inspections in accordance with quality standards; (2) experience reviewing quality requirements for systems/products/materials; (3) capability to perform Quality Assurance (QA) audits; and (4) writing and evaluating Quality Assurance reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).


    You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

    Education

    Substitution of Education:

    GS-07: One full year of graduate level education in a major study that includes quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position or superior academic achievement. (NOTE: Must attach copy of transcript. Failure to attach copy of transcript will result in an ineligible rating.)

    (Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study - quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position.)

    Superior Academic Achievement: In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in B above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on:

    • (1) Class Standing - You must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR
    • (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - You must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR
    • (3) Honor Society Membership - You may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/).

    GS-09: Two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Master's degree in a major study that includes quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position or master's or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. (NOTE: Must attach copy of transcript. Failure to attach copy of transcript will result in an ineligible rating.)

    GS-11: Threeyears of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree in a major study that includes quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or LL.M., if related. (NOTE: Must attach copy of transcript. Failure to attach copy of transcript will result in an ineligible rating.)
