Job Description

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory for a project focusing on re-design of oilseed crops that can grow in marginal environments. The work will be performed at the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) – a DOE national scientific user facility. The preferred candidate (1) will have received a PhD in Plant Biology, or a related field from an accredited college or university; (2) will have demonstrated the ability to develop, lead, and safely execute research projects; (3) will have a strong publication record in a relevant scientific field and the proven ability to collaborate effectively on teams; (4) will possess excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. A record of independent contributions to research programs, prior demonstrated working experience with oilseed crops and carrying experiments from design to manuscripts, and potential for project leadership roles is strongly desired.

This is a full-time position anticipated to last 3 years (contingent on performance) starting in the spring of 2021.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

The qualified candidate will have experience in the design and execution of studies dealing with plant molecular physiology using phenotyping, omics (transcriptomics and/or metabolomics), gene transformation, and genome editing (including CRISPR) approaches. Prior working experience on Pennycress (or similar oilseed crops) is desired. Experience in bioinformatics, is a plus. Ideal candidates will be detail oriented, reliable, and motivated.
