Salary : Details not provided
Location : Maryland

Full Description

Are you a go-getter, a hard worker, someone with a passion for science and the drive to get the job done? Would you love a foot in the door with a growing, busy company? Then do we have a job for you!

As a Temporary Laboratory Assistant at IDEXX, you will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. You will assist with laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets across the United States. You will join a fast-paced work environment that encourages teamwork and quality, and offers opportunities for personal growth.

What can you expect?

Our lab processes thousands of veterinary samples a night, which we receive from veterinary clinics across the US. What type of samples? Glad you asked! We receive blood, urine, and fecal samples; we accession them into our computer system, and then we run diagnostic tests on those samples. The results are then shared back to the Veterinarian, and they can then formulate a treatment plan if the animal is sick. You would be a crucial part of the process of helping to keep pets happy and healthy - how great is that?

The positions we are looking to fill are in 2 areas of our very busy Glen Burnie, MD lab: Sample Management and Parasitology. All of the positions we are looking to fill are on our overnight shift.

In the Sample Management Department, you're part of the team that receives the samples that come to the lab - unbagging, unboxing, sorting, bar-coding, and delivering samples to other departments w/in the lab. Successful candidates in this role like a fast pace, can follow SOPs, have great energy to power through the night, and reliably want to work overnights. You'll be working as part of a team that looks to collectively get all of that night's samples processed and moved on to other areas by our morning TAT (turn-around time).

    Schedule for Sample Management: Monday-Friday, 11P - 7:30A, with an every-other Saturday rotation. Saturday hours are 6P - 2:30A.

In the Parasitology Department, to be clear, you'll be working specifically with the fecal samples we receive. We can learn quite a bit about the health of a pet from what's going on in Fluffy's litter box or Fido's spot in the backyard. In this role, you'll be assisting with the process of preparing the samples and getting them ready to go under the microscope for analysis. You might be picking up the samples from Sample Management, racking up samples, adding liquid chemicals, restocking, or moving those samples along in the process. Successful candidates in this role are happy with repetitive work processes, are able to follow SOP's, are excited about a job that is fast-paced, science-based and always busy, working towards TAT each morning. You are someone who can commit to a full-time, overnight position through Summer 2021 and possibly beyond.

Schedule for Parasitology: Monday/Tuesday through Friday/Saturday, Midnight through 8:30am, with an every-other Saturday rotation.

These positions offer a fantastic opportunity for you join our team on a temp or temp to hire basis, and be considered for a direct hire by IDEXX.
