Minimum Qualifications

Acceptable Experience and Education
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, or proven work experience with related systems; and one (1) year experience in office support;

Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certificates and Licenses Required
Must have or obtain by date of hire a valid driver's license applicable to job responsibilities, with a driving record acceptable to the County of El Paso.


Typical Duties

Provides technical assistance and support to personal computer and software; provides end-user support; assists with credentials and usage; as authorized grants case security permission;

Identifies, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs various computer issues;

Conducts periodic maintenance on computers and peripherals to ensure efficiency and effectiveness;

Creates computer issue tickets to ITD as needed; maintains the internal job ques and works with ITD as needed to resolve the computer issues;

Assists with technical projects within the department;

Assists in designing and runs reports; creates departmental forms and spreadsheets for streamlining work/projects; assists with document conversion;

Trains departmental staff on new/current technology;

Assists and may present recommendations to management in matters relating to technical solutions and/or improvements to systems; Researches products to create efficiencies in the department;

Coordinates with Information Technology Department regarding systems performance;

As directed processes data backups on all systems as scheduled;

Tracks inventory on technical equipment;

Attends and participates in meetings, training and information sessions;

Stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field; to include state laws, legislation, etc.;

Commits self to providing excellent customer service and demonstrate commitment through cooperative team and individual efforts; and

Creates a high quality work culture through participation in and emphasis on training and mentoring to develop leadership, management, and technical skills in self and all employees, including safety related training and skills.

Other Important Duties*
Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

May require working hours outside the normal schedule.

As members of the County of El Paso Emergency Response System, all El Paso County employees are designated as Disaster Service Workers during a proclaimed emergency and may be required to train on emergency response and/or perform certain emergency services at the direction of their supervisor.

Knowledge of: state laws, such as Family Code, Labor Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, Health and Safety Code, Transportation Code, Occupations Code, Local Government Code, Texas Government Code, Supreme Court Rules, Tax Code, Civil Practice and Remedies Code; legislation as it pertains to the department; standard software applications; computer peripherals; personal and mainframe computer operations; the functions and applicability of various software packages; technical operation of computer hardware; general computer maintenance procedures and repair techniques.
Skill/Ability to:troubleshoot, analyze and repair hardware, software and systems; read and understand technical manuals; prepare reports neatly and accurately; demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication; operate personal computer, associated software; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County personnel; train on systems or programs.
