This is social work at the advanced supervisory level involving case work or consultation in the administration of the social work department in the State's larger institutions or health centers. Incumbents supervise major phases of complex programs with a staff of subordinate professional and paraprofessional workers and coordinate the activities with members of other professions. Supervision is received from the administrator and is primarily in the form of a review of reports and administrative conferences to plan the development and expansion of programs.
Examples of Work: Examples of work performed in this classification include, but are not limited to, the following:

Recruits and interviews candidates for professional, paraprofessional, and administrative support positions.

Employs staff according to standards of the agency and policies of the organization.

Supervises a staff of professional workers in the child welfare department of the State's regions.

Participates in departmental and interdepartmental staff conferences and serves as program participant in community meetings.

Maintains regional plans and reports, oversees workloads, and analyzes data in order to make data-driven decisions for the region.

Collaborates and consults with the state office director and departmental directors to determine the quality and quantity of social service necessary for the region.

Consults with public and private agency administrators and designated departmental heads in determining policies and procedures which affect collaborative services.

Plans, prepares, and justifies budgets for the region in collaboration with state office.

Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Licensure:
Must be licensed to practice Master's level social work (LMSW or above) in the State of Mississippi;

AND

Experience:
Five (5) years of experience related to the described duties;

OR

Education / Licensure:
Must be licensed to practice social work (LSW or above) in the State of Mississippi and have a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW);

AND

Experience:
Six (6) years of experience related to the described duties;

OR

Licensure:
Must be licensed to practice social work (LSW or above) in the State of Mississippi;

AND

Experience:
Seven (7) years of experience related to the described duties.

Documentation Required:

Applicants must attach a valid copy of his/her current social worker license.
