The Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) is seeking an experienced, self-motivated corrections professional to maintain the emergency preparedness systems at the TSCI. Examples of Work

This position is responsible for all aspects of emergency preparedness including the maintenance of the TSCI emergency preparedness systems and manuals, as well as monitoring the emergency preparedness policies in the facility. It also includes conducting annual reviews and updates of emergency plans, post orders and checklists. Establish agreements for aid within NDCS and other agencies. Inspect, assess and inventory emergency equipment; prepare purchase orders and budget requests. This position supports the Incident Commander and Incident Management Team during emergencies. Responsible for conducting training sessions, drills and inspections, and evaluate their effectiveness and also assist other facilities with their drills. Conduct and facilitate critical incident reviews and documents.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Post high school training in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, disaster planning, or related field and responsible correctional experience.

PREFERRED: Associates degree plus three years correctional experience. Experience in state or federal emergency management; have to be able to complete NEMA certification. Experience with the use and application of audio/visual training aids and/or equipment; experience giving presentations.

OTHER: Valid driver's license is required. Must be able to legally possess a firearm and ammunition. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program. Incumbent must obtain NEMA certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of security device operations and capabilities; riot and disturbance control concepts and procedures; inmate behavior; institutional rules and regulations; department security manual; ACA standards.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, work independently and in team settings, operate riot control devices, interpret rules and regulations establish priorities; respond quickly and effectively to situations, establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, public and private officials; and handle sensitive issues.
