- Provides written and oral information to the public on the mission and role of BLM, recreational opportunities, wild horse and burro adoptions, map purchases, area archeology and area history.
- Explains rules related to the use of recreational areas and facilities and informs and persuades contacts to obtain greater public cooperation in protecting resources from fire, vandalism, pollution and litter.
- Responds to inquiries concerning such matters as land status and ownership, land sales, timber sales, mining claims, oil and gas leases and permits, rights of way, and/or grazing permits.
- Works closely with resource specialists in order to answer or to obtain answers to inquiries.
- Ensures proper application of Bureau policies and provides assistance to ensure that customer needs are met effectively and efficiently.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

For GS-05: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is further defined as: Accomplishing routine support tasks in a busy office environment, providing routine information to the public and internal customers by phone, email, and in person, preparing written correspondence, and using automations systems, maintaining files and related materials OR Completed four (4) years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the prerequisite, OR an equivalent combination of the experience and education described above.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
