Full Description

This position provides support in the Constituent Relations (CR) Unit of the Office of the Governor, with a primary focus on processing mail, general office support, filing, document management, assisting with constituent relations' communications, backup staffing for the Governor's Juneau reception desk, and other miscellaneous administrative duties. This is an entry-level position.

Example of Duties

  • Assisting with data entry in the correspondence tracking system.
  • Use of various constituent databases and Microsoft Software Suite.
  • Providing assistance with constituent inquiries and requests.
  • Reception desk duties, including answering phone calls, receiving visitors, assisting the public, transferring callers to the appropriate staff person or agency for assistance.
  • Light filing and document management.
  • Assist CR Coordinator/Director with special projects and miscellaneous tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful candidate for this position must have:

  • General knowledge of office procedures, organization, and filing systems.
  • Working knowledge of correct business practices, correspondence, and typing formats, including the proper use of English grammar, composition, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of office equipment including scanners, copiers, fax machines, printers, and Windows PC Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent and overlapping tasks.
  • A courteous and professional demeanor; customer service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to adapt and function independently and cooperatively in a professional, fast- paced working environment.
  • Discretion and independent judgment in evaluating information and understanding the ramifications of actions taken. Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to perform research tasks.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an upbeat group.
