This position serves as the Business Manager and Senior Staff member at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State of South Dakota Veterans Home in Hot Springs, South Dakota. The incumbent will supervise three staff and oversee the business department to include billings, accounts receivable, accounts payable, resident trust accounts, contracting and negotiations, business office approval of new admissions, collections, staff residence receipts and leases, archived records, maintenance and control of all business office machines, accounting and cashiers office, the Mini Mart store within the Veterans Home Post Office; procures and manages all IT equipment; attends senior staff and other meetings; works with deputy superintendent and Finance Director on budget development and adherence; assists in resident activities and functions, as needed; and works with all team members to benefit and serve residents.

Limited travel may be required for conferences and budget hearings.

This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Applicants with experience in managing a business office or financial portion of an organization with strong accounting, finance, and analytical skills; experience in managing staff including training and evaluations; and who possess strong customer service skills are preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Accounting, finance, banking, insurance billing, management, employee supervision, employee training, customer service, Excel including queries and pivot tables, and Microsoft office suite.
