This Agricultural Program Coordinator position is located in the Office of State Veterinarian and will perform these duties:
  • Responsible for coordinating the emergency management program to ensure compliance with standards, regulations, practices and procedures related to animal disease preparedness and response.
  • Provide guidance to staff related to emergency preparedness and response activities. Review and revise Emergency Disease Response Plan.
  • Schedule, coordinate and track Incident Management Team training. Manage information related to training records, multi-year training and exercise plans and contacts for emergency management functions.
  • Assist in preparing reports.
  • Attend meetings, conferences and workshops related to emergency management.
  • Participates in Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA)Incident Command System (ICS) training, exercises and implementation.
  • Maintain and update emergency response inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist program coordinators within the Office of State Veterinarian with animal disease traceability, avian programs and Cervid program duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Five years of administrative or inspection experience in agriculture or a related field.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's Degree in agriculture or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in an office setting. May make visits to areas where program is enforced.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
