Recruitments for County positions are typically conducted to establish eligibility lists to fill countywide vacancies that occur during the active status of those lists (approximately 3 -12 months). Any person on a promotional eligibility list will be considered first by the hiring department(s) before persons on an open eligibility list.

Minimum Qualifications:

HUMAN RESOURCES TECHNICIAN I

Training and Experience:

Any combination of training and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Two (2) years of previous administrative, office, and general support work experience comparable to that of an Office Assistant III with the County of Lake. Previous work experience with Human Resources records and systems is highly desirable.

OR

Two (2) years of previous administrative, office, and general support work experience comparable to that of an Office Assistant II with the County of Lake including at least one year of previous work experience with Human Resources records and systems.

Special Requirements:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California Driver's license.

HUMAN RESOURCES TECHNICIAN II

Training and Experience:

Experience in public sector Human Resources is highly desirable.

HUMAN RESOURCES TECHNICIAN I

DEFINITION

Under close supervision, to learn and perform a variety of complex, and specialized program, office, administrative, and general support work for the Human Resources Department; to serve as the primary program support for one or more specialized personnel programs such as recruitments, orientation, and/or other human resource specialties and/or to serve as a human resources generalist, responding to inquiries about, and supporting multiple specialized functional areas or programs; to learn and prepare, complete, record, and report on recruitments, personnel transactions, benefits, employee or applicant information, and/or other Human Resources areas as assigned; to prepare, process, assemble, and distribute related materials; to provide a variety of information about County personnel policies and procedures to the public and County staff; and to do related work as required.


DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the entry level of the Human Resources Technician class series. This is a specialized training and working level classification for performing a variety of complex, specialized support functions for the Human Resources Department. An incumbent is expected to learn and perform a major portion of the assignments related to his/her area of specialty, including planning, conducting, and completing critical human resource processes, and/or may be assigned as a human resources generalist, supporting and requiring knowledge of multiple functions and programs of the Human Resources Office. The Human Resources Technician I classification is distinguished from the Human Resources Technician II classification in that Human Resources Technician I is a training position while Human Resources Technician II incumbents are expected to be able to perform the full scope of duties with minimal supervision and have in-depth knowledge of the functions and programs of the Human Resources Department.
