The Governmental Assurance Senior Manager is responsible for developing suggestions to improve client internal controls and accounting procedures as well as advising the client on various economic and regulatory risks in a specific industry field of expertise by identifying financial and non-financial performance measures, formulating and communicating the audit plan, answering complex questions involving GAAP/GAAS issues.. In this role, the Governmental Assurance Senior Manager is charged with marketing, networking and business development within an area of expertise, as well as the responsibility of ensuring engagement profitability involving billings and collections. Traditionally, responsibilities of the Assurance Manager will include advising the client on various economic and regulatory risks within their industry, resolving complex accounting issues, apply GAAP, GAAS, and, where applicable, Government Auditing Standards consistently within complex situations, writing technical consultation memos on GAAP / GAAS issues, and documenting, validating, testing and assessing various financial reporting control systems.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelors degree required; focus in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Masters degree in Accountancy, preferred

Experience:
  • Seven (7) or more years prior work experience in public accounting, preferred
  • Prior significant supervisory experience, preferred

License/Certifications:
  • Licensed CPA required

Software:
  • Experience in the use of various assurance applications and research tools as is appropriate for this level, required
  • Microsoft Office Products, including Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, required

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Sound GAAP and GAAS knowledge
  • Possess proven solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess excellent people development and delegation skills, including training/instruction and engagement scheduling and budgeting
- Possess executive presence - need to be able to be primary contact for the client, prepare and present presentations to clients and potential clients
  • Possess client development/relationship-building skills
  • Possess solid decision-making skills
  • Able to resolve complex accounting issues
  • Able to be responsible for business development and marketing
